COMPLAINT POLICY

 If FIVE-O-PLUS Public Radio Association Incorporated (2SNR) receives a complaint, either by telephone, verbal or written regarding the quality of the programme, music or presentation or service, the following guidelines apply to everyone dealing with the complaint on behalf of FIVE-O-PLUS Public Radio Association Incorporated (2SNR).

  • Staff will always be professional throughout the complaint process, collecting sufficient information, including complainants name, email address, phone number and date of complaint for a full investigation.
  • Details will be recorded accurately without censorship or bias, neither agreeing or disagreeing with the complainant.
  • Complainants are expected to show respect for the staff during the recording and investigation process for the complaint.
  • If the person wishes to remain anonymous, the complaint will be recorded and investigated regardless.
  • The Station Secretary will be responsible to record and acknowledge all details of the complaint and investigation. 
  • The complaint will be referred to the Management Board for resolution where it cannot be resolved easily.

WORKPLACE BULLYING AND HARASSMENT POLICY

Five-O- Plus Public Radio Association Incorporated (2SNR) is s committed to providing a safe and equitable workplace for all workers where everyone’s contribution is valued and respected.  As part of this commitment, workplace behaviours such as bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated. 

This policy should also be read in association with the Workplace Bullying and Sexual Harassment Procedure, also revised in January 2026.

This policy refers to complaints that include:

  • unwelcome and unsolicited, offensive, intimidating, humiliating or threatening behaviour.
    • behaviour that targets a person based on their age, gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion or certain other protected attributes.

Examples of sexual harassment include, but are not limited to:

  • staring or leering
    • unnecessary familiarity, such as deliberately brushing up against you or unwelcome touching
    • suggestive comments or jokes
    • insults or taunts of a sexual nature
    • intrusive questions or statements about your private life
    • sending sexually explicit emails or text messages
    • requests for sex or repeated unwanted requests to go out on dates
    • behaviour that may also be considered an offence under criminal law, such as physical assault, indecent exposure, sexual assault, stalking or obscene communications

Behaviour that is based on mutual attraction, friendship and respect is not sexual harassment.

Management, volunteers and members are expected to model appropriate behaviour.

WORKPLACE BULLYING AND HARASSMENT PROCEDURE

  • All workers are expected to contribute to the achievement of a positive and productive workplace culture by carefully considering their own behaviour and its possible effects on others.
  • The EasyFM Code of Practice provides the standards of behaviour and conduct that are always expected of workers.  This includes but is not limited to, the station’s offices and studios, and externally in the public, business environment and other reasonable locations involving station events and/or clients.
  • If a volunteer or worker feels that they have been bullied or harassed in their course of duties at FIVE-O-PLUS Public Radio Association Incorporated (2SNR) the first step should be to talk to the person they feel has upset them.
  • The issues should be discussed with a view of preventing this behaviour or perceived behaviour being repeated.
  • Discussions should always be civil and polite, trying to avoid accusations and aggression.
  • A neutral officer (mediator) will be provided by management to assist throughout the complaint process.  (not assigned yet)
  • Complaints about bullying or harassment can be made directly to management or the Board. [email protected] or via a  written document to Management or a board member.
  • Complaints need to be in writing to ensure accurate information in relation to the complaint.  Verbal complaints will be documented by management (or person told of the complaint) at the time of the complaint.  The complainant needs to sign the document prior to the implementation of a full investigation.
  • The Management/Board will acknowledge receipt of the complaint by the next business day and act in a timely manner to commence the process to resolve the complaint.
  • A timeframe for the resolution of a complaint will be set in line with the complexity of the complaint.
  • Written complaints will be taken seriously by Management and the Board.  Information will be kept confidential.
  • Both the complainant and the respondent will be kept informed of the progress of the complaint investigation.
  • All volunteers and workers are expected to comply with the results of the investigation.  The mediator will assist with the implementation of any recommendations.
  • Any breaches of this or any other policies will be managed as per the Easy FM Code of Practice.

Environmental Awareness Policy

We at FIVE-O-PLUS Public Radio Association Incorporated (2SNR) see protecting the environment as part of our core values. In taking measures such as those outlined below, we aim to continue to reduce our environmental footprint. We recognise that our business has a corporate social responsibility to enhance the environment and promote the long-term sustainability of the Community Radio industry. We aim to inspire our staff, Volunteers and Sponsors to do the same.

           FIVE-O-PLUS Public Radio Association Incorporated (2SNR) is committed to:

  • Understanding and managing our environmental risks with the goal of minimising or eliminating those risks.
  • Ensuring the environment is considered in our investment and corporate strategies, procurement and products and services we offer.
  • Actively working to minimise pollution, manage waste streams and address relevant biodiversity issues.
  • Providing all employees with the training and education necessary to meet our objectives.
  • Complying with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly review environmental objectives and targets.
  • Openly communicate our policies and practices to interested and approved parties.
  • To monitor and record our environmental impacts on a regular basis and compare our performance with set policies, objectives and targets.

Environmental Awareness Procedure

FIVE-O-PLUS Public Radio Association Incorporated comply with relevant Australian Commonwealth, State and Local environmental policies, practices, regulations and legislation.  Management and the Board are committed to the principles of preventing pollution to the environment and continual improvement by using the following practices.

  • Committing to the principles of preventing pollution to the environment and continual improvement.
  • Minimization: All workers and management are to ensure waste generation will be reduced by printing double-sided where appropriate and will attempt to have equipment repaired instead of immediately replacing it.
  • Sustainable purchasing: where possible, management and workers are encouraged to purchase products and services that have been shown to be  environmentally sustainable.
  • Recycling: Management and workers are to ensure all used paper, cardboard, plastics and glass will be separated and placed in the appropriate recycle bins below the office.  The Secretary will ensure that all confidential documents will be disposed of securely through secure document shredding contracts. Workers are encouraged to use waste paper for notepads in the office and studio. 
  • Disposal: Management will ensure that all hazardous and e-waste, will be disposed of correctly through designated channels.
  • Equipment use:  All workers are to ensure that computers, lights, and air conditioners are turned off before vacating the office.
  • E-Waste – When hard drives are removed, they are to be wiped of data and where possible, sent to suitable, e-waste recyclers.
  • Communicating this policy to all workers, and other stakeholders, will be undertaken by Management.  This policy will be made available, in full, to the public.
